The 1 post policy applies to ads for boards.

You can reply to ad topics for other boards and you can post in any discussion forums at Promote.

The one ad post per day rule is to prevent individuals or communities from turning every topic at Promote into an ad for their board.

At Promote, "SPAM" means any post or topic that is somewhere not expected, not appropriate, or not wanted.

...a) Each Yuku community is allowed 1 ad topic, so you need to decide which forum is the best for your board. If you advertise in more than one forum, we will remove all but one topic.

...b) A topic that links to a single forum at a board counts as a ad for the entire board.

...c) A link to someone else's board included on your own topic becomes an advertisement for their board. It counts as one ad for that board and has the potential to cause your or their topic to be deleted as an "excess" ad topic.

...d) Posts tacked onto other people's threads to advertise a board that isn't theirs are not acceptable. If you have more than one board, start a new topic for the other board(s). Adding a link to a second board will result in either an admin edit to remove the extra link or the post will be hidden/vaulted.
Exception: When the topic's author specifically invites you to post your link on his/her topic.

...e) Any graphic image you post on a topic that is not your own is not acceptable. The image will be edited out and/or your post deleted.

...f) Any topic posted in a forum that doesn't clearly fit the overall theme of the advertised board will be moved or deleted at the moderator's discretion. We will try to always leave a Shadow Topic that will show the new location of your topic, but you will normally not be notified directly that your topic has been moved, so please make sure you post in the appropriate forum to begin with. Moving a topic does not change the url, so if you have bookmarked your topic, you'll be able to find even if it is moved to another forum.

A single forum where a subject is discussed doesn't qualify your Yuku to be posted in the forum for boards about that subject. For example if your board is about comic books and you have one forum for the NFL, this doesn't qualify your board for the Sports forum. But you can certainly mention the football forum in you ad in the correct forum. :)

If you feel that your board fits into several different categories, it probably belongs in the This n That forum, as a "general chat" board, or in the Think Tank forum, for more serious-minded but multiple-topic-discussion boards.

Regarding part f, above:

At Yuku, the terminology used for the structure of your message board is this:

board (aka community)
...forum
......topic (or thread)
.........post

Some message board services refer to the entire board as a "Forum," and the individual divisions of the board are called "boards." That is not the case at Yuku.

So...

  • when we say your board must have an overall theme, we mean your entire Yuku community, not just one category or forum on it.
  • when we say theme, we mean subject or topic of discussion, not board name, design scheme, or color scheme.

If you board changes focus or you feel that you your ad better fits a different forum, please do not start a new topic.

You can make a post in the Official Request topic and ask that you topic be moved to another forum. Or you you can ask that your old topic be vaulted so that you can start a new one.
