Tags are your way of telling us what your content is all about. So use tags wisely to ensure that your content gets pushed in the right places. Our internal search engines and other related promotional pages will serve your pages when other members search for your tags. Connecting your content and your audience. Tags are also known as search words or keywords. Examples If you post a topic about rock music, you might use "rock" and "music" as tags. These are quite common though so you could include additional tags to be more specific, e.g. including a band name. A bad example is to use too many tags or irrelevant tags in the hope of getting hits from people who didn't expect to find your site. Tags are usually chosen informally and personally by the author/creator of the item - i.e. not usually as part of some formally defined classification scheme. Tags are typically used in dynamic, flexible, automatically generated internet taxonomies for online resources such as computer files, web pages, digital images, and internet bookmarks (both in social bookmarking services, and in the current generation of web browsers - see Flock and Mozilla Firefox 2.0x). For this reason, "Tagging" has become associated with the Web 2.0 movement. Tagging here at yuku will allow users inside a forum to search for specific topics on any given tag. It is up to users to create meaningful tags though. For some communities tags will be an informal, fun thing. For communities like the help forum, or for other FAQ forums, tags will be a huge searching enhancement.

They will come up in a yuku domain search as well as any other search such as google. Using tags will make it easier for a board to be found, but it will also help board members to find old posts easily. A forum must have at least 5 tags in order for them to appear in the tags section. Adding tags to your topics. To add a tag when you start a new topic, simply add your tags in the designated area just below the post editor. Your tags will appear in the search tags area above the forum in which you posted. You can now click on the tags to find your post easily, or find posts that might be of interest to you. When a tag is used more than once, the font size increases. In the above example, "cars" was used 3 times, "flowers" was used twice. Disabling tags. If you don't wish to use tags on your board, you can disable them. Path to follow: Navigation -> admin menu -> community skins. On your community skins page, click on the WYSIWYG tab in the forum where you wish to disable tags. Your profile will come up in a search when people use the words you have used as tags to search for users with similar interests across yuku. Enabling your tags block. When you create an account or a new profile, the tags block will be disabled by default. To enable it, click the navigation button at the top right of your screen. Click 'edit layout' in your mini profile block Scroll down to your disabled blocks and mouse over the tags block to make the 'enable' button appear. Click the enable button and your tags block will be moved to the active blocks section. Editing your tags Once the tags block has been enabled, you can edit it and add tags. To edit your tags, click on your name in your navigation bar. Click edit at the top right of your tags block You can edit your block title, add tags and edit the viewing permissions. To search for people who have the same interest as yours, scroll up to the top of any yuku page and click on "find". You will be taken to the search page. The default is Communities, so you will need to click on Profiles. Type your interest in the designated area and click go.
